2015 Alameda County Spelling Bee

The next spelling bee will take place in early 2015. The top two Elementary competitors and the top two Junior High competitors will move on to the state finals.

All public school districts are invited to send their students to the county wide championship. Entry forms are linked below. Please note that only the designated district coordinator may register students; forms sent by members of the general public will not be processed. Forms and payment are both due by the deadline (currently expected to be some date in February, 2015).

2014 Spelling Bee Results

Elementary Grade Winners

On March 8, 2014, 35 students from 29 schools across 11 Alameda County districts were registered to compete in the Eighth Annual Alameda County Elementary Spelling Bee.

  • 1st Place - Christina Yu, 6th Grade, Gomes Elementary School, Fremont USD
  • 2nd Place - Isabella Siu, 6th Grade, Canyon Middle School, Castro Valley USD
  • 3rd Place - Nicholas Baham, 5th Grade, Jensen Ranch Elementary School, Castro Valley USD
  • 4th Place - Julia Stewart, 6th Grade, Montera Middle School, Oakland USD

Junior High (Grades 7-8) Winners

On March 8, 2014, 14 students from 9 schools across 6 Alameda County school districts competed in the Seventh Annual Alameda County Junior High Spelling Bee.

  • 1st Place (tie) - Karah Pedregosa, 8th Grade, Fallon Middle School, Dublin USD
  • 1st Place (tie) - Meenakshi Singhal, 8th Grade, Mendenhall Middle School, Livermore Valley JUSD
  • 3rd Place - Ashton Lam, 8th Grade, Pleasanton Middle School, Pleasanton USD
  • 4th Place - Sarah Morgan, 8th Grade, Mendenhall Middle School, Livermore JUSD
