Mathematics Achievement Academies - New Program!

Mathematics Achievement Academies (MAA) are specially designed five-week summer sessions for students who will be enrolled in Algebra I in Grade 9 during 2010-11.  The curriculum is based on ACCLAIM best practices and is an initiative of California State University East Bay.  This program will not only support students in Grade 9 Algebra I, but will provide five-week summer sessions for the same students as they enter Geometry in Grade 10 and Algebra II in Grade 11, to become college-competitive.  Each year a new cohort will also begin this three-year sequence.  Generous financial support for MAA has been provided by Chevron Corporation, AT&T, Bank of America, Union Bank of California, Lam Research, and California State University Chancellor's Office.

"Students Teaching Students Mathematics" Video Series

"Students Teaching Students Mathematics" has been developed collaboratively through a university-county-district-school partnership. Students in the video series come from mathematics intervention classes at Winton Middle School in the Hayward Unified School District. The video production project promotes peer-to-peer mathematics teaching and learning and provides access to an online video library of mathematics lessons taught by students in English, Spanish, and Tagalog.
