Funded by the California Department of Education, this partnership with San Diego and Fresno County Office of Education is designed to address the dearth of well-prepared, well-supported mathematics teachers in Alameda County’s lowest performing schools by (1) recruiting math majors from CSU East Bay and channeling them into the CSU East Bay teacher credentialing program and (2) providing professional development and ongoing coaching to new mathematics teachers. Both groups will benefit from intensive instruction and coaching by ACOE’s Mathematics Development Center practitioners which is designed to improve knowledge in math content and differentiated instructional strategies anchored in ELD and Students with Disabilities pedagogy.
