California Teachers AssociationThe "Political and Legislation" section provides information on issues that the organization believes are key to education and its members, and offers the CTA's position on pending legislation. The CTA represents more than 335,000 teachers, counselors, psychologists, librarians and other non-supervisory, certificated personnel. It is affiliated with the National Education Association.
California Federation of TeachersThe "Legislative Matters" section highlights the state budget as it relates to education. The CFT represents more than 120,000 teachers and school employees in California. It is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO.
U.S. Department of EducationThis is the federal government’s Web site that provides updates on education legislation at the federal level, and the views of the current administration on educational issues.
California School Boards AssociationCSBA provides analysis of bills and resolutions regarding public education and provides statements about the association’s positions on legislation. CSBA raises public awareness of important public education issues; takes positions on proposed legislation that affects county boards and county offices of education; provides governance training to county board members; and distributes sample policies for use by county boards.
California County Boards of EducationThe CCBE is closely linked to the CSBA, and uses the CSBA’s Governmental Relations page. However, the CCBE also provides a list of bills supported or opposed by its members. On the front page of the CCBE’s Web site, under “Legislation,” click on the PDF link for the “Legislative Committee bills supported or opposed.”
Calif. Assoc. of School Business OfficialsCASBO’s Legislation and Advocacy page highlights issues that the organization believes needs urgent action from its members. The page provides a form letter that can be e-mailed to legislators. CASBO is an organization of school districts and education professionals who are responsible for financial and operational facets of public schools in California.
Assoc. of Calif. School AdministratorsThe “Legislative Action” section provides comment and analysis of key legislation from an administrator’s viewpoint. The ACSA is an umbrella organization for several administrative groups.
California Legislative InformationThe state's official site for searching all legislation. It provides the full text of bills, resolutions, and constitutional amendments, and their status, history, votes, analyses, and veto messages.
