Parent Information Resource Center (PIRC), Region IV
The Alameda County Office of Education has partnered with the California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE) and the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS), along with a variety of other community and educational partners to build the California State Parent Information Resource Center (CS-PIRC 1).
The CS-PIRC 1 at the ACOE is one of three main parent information and resource centers and 12 satellite centers located throughout northern and southern California.
This statewide project has as its main objectives parent education and leadership development activities, as well as leadership training for teams of educators and parents from underperforming schools.
A comprehensive program for the education of parents of very young children (birth through age five) has also been developed, including implementation of the Virtual Pre-K program.
Our partnership proposes to directly serve 25,143 parents over the course of the next five years, as well as another 5,500 parents to be served by parent leaders completing the leadership development components of the project.
