The Williams Legislation requires that additional information be included in all School Accountability Report Cards, beginning with SARCs published in the 2004-05 school year. The new reporting requirements relate to:

  • any needed maintenance to ensure good repair of school facilities
  • the number of teacher misassignments and vacant teacher positions
  • the availability of sufficient textbooks and other instructional materials

For details, see the California Department of Education Web site.

In addition, the County Superintendent of Schools, as part of the school visit, is required to verify the accuracy of data reported in the SARC relevant to facilities maintenance, teacher misassignments/vacancies and textbook sufficiency.
