The Personnel Commission for the Alameda County Office of Education was established, as provided in Education Code Sections 45240-45320, to administer a merit system for the classified employees. The Merit System is based on the principle of employment and promotion on the basis of merit for the purpose of obtaining the highest efficiency and assuring the selection and retention of the best qualified persons in the service of the Alameda County Office of Education. One commissioner is selected by the governing board, one commissioner is selected by the classified collective bargaining employee unit, and one commissioner is selected by the other two commissioners. Each commissioner serves a three-year term, and the term of one commissioner expires each year.

The ACOE Personnel Commission routinely meets on the third Thursday of each month at the Alameda County Office of Education, 313 West
Winton Avenue, Hayward, at 1:00 p.m.
