You do not need an appointment to see a Credential Specialist but we suggest that you do call first. It allows us to talk with you about your credentialing requirements to ensure that you have everything in your possession to apply for certification. Although our office can assist you with submitting your application to the state, we are providing some general guidelines below. Please read them before contacting our office. |

Online renewal is mandatory for all clear credential holders by going to www.ctc.ca.gov
The Alameda County office of Education’s Credential Department processes new credential/permit applications and renewals of credentials/permits. We advise out-of-state and out-of-country teachers regarding California Certification requirements. We also advise California teachers about adding new authorizations to current California Certification.
Adult Education & Vocational Education Credentials
Alameda County Office of Education is authorized by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing to recommend for the adult education designated subjects credential and vocational credentials. Contact Jean Bridgeman at (510) 670-4261 to make an appointment.

U.S. Constitution Exam
The credentials office administers the U.S. Constitution exam. Test scoring is processed through the U.C.L.A. Education Extension Department and takes two weeks for results. This exam meets the Constitution requirement for single subject, multi subjects, and vocational, and adult education credentials.

At this site you are also able to view credentials held by a teacher by entering name or social security number and date of birth..
