The goal is to ensure that students with disabilities enrolled in ACOE Court and Community schools are consistently identified, evaluated, and provided with appropriate educational services and placements.

The Alameda County Office of Education provides programs to appropriately serve students with special needs. The programs include varied instructional strategies and methodologies which promote student achievement and increase student self-esteem.

The Resource Specialist Program provides special education services for any identified special education students who can participate in the general education program for a majority of their school day. It provides an instructional setting that supports both the student and the general education teacher and facilitates the student’s participation in general education.

Special Day Classes are designed to provide appropriate services for students who participate in Special Education for a majority of their day. Maximum participation with their non-disabled peers is encouraged and facilitated as appropriate.
