emcdonald@acoe.orgEILEEN MCDONALD owned a small local business and has taught in several programs in the Bay Area which include Fremont Unified Regional Occupational Program (ROP), Ohlone for Kids, and Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas. She holds a B.A. from Cal State East Bay (formerly Cal State Hayward) in Speech Communication and has completed graduate coursework in Correctional Education. She has used that training to serve the community on the Board of Directors for Second Chance and on the Alameda County Safety Corridor Committee.
McDonald was a member of the Newark Unified School District Board of Education from 1992-2003. Her dedication to students who were "slipping through the cracks" in Newark led her to the county board responsible for educational services inside Alameda County's Juvenile Justice System. She has gone on to become a specialist in Relapse Prevention from the University of Utah and to complete studies in Chemical Dependency at Cal State East Bay. She holds a Master's of Governance and Master's of Boardmanship certificate from the California School Boards Association.
McDonald has traveled extensively and enjoys sharing her "Geographic Journeys" at local elementary schools. She lives in Newark with her husband of over 40 years and has four grown children and 15 grandchildren. Although she has set foot on all seven continents, home is still her favorite place to be.
