YVONNE CERRATO was elected Area 7 Trustee of the Alameda County Board of Education in March, 2002. She has served as Board President for three years during her three terms in office. Yvonne is dedicated to all the students in Alameda County and works to promote equity in the public schools by advocating for policies and school oversight to improve opportunities for all children.
Cerrato has served as Governing Chair of both the Tri Valley SELPA and Alliance for Arts Learning Leadership of the Bay Area for over 12 years. In 2015, she completed her administrative credential at Cal State East Bay and became certified by ACOE’s Integrated Learning Specialist Program. This year she will complete the California School Boards Association Masters in Governance Program. She earned a California Multiple Subject Elementary School Teaching Credential and also holds a Clear Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development Certification and a Language Development Specialist Certification. She is a Dean's List Scholar from San Jose State University, where she received her B.S. degree in Business Marketing.
During her nine years of teaching elementary school, Cerrato gained experience in five different grade levels and worked hard to develop literacy programs and raise test scores. Her record illustrates her dedicated participation in public school leadership. As the mother of four sons ages 16 to 32, she has volunteered for over thirty years in the public schools she serves.
