Percentage of 3rd Grade Students meeting standard in ELA
Third grade has been identified as important to reading literacy because it is the final year children are learning to read, after which students are “reading to learn”. The percentage of third grade students who are meeting standard in ELA is critical to a student’s overall success as long term studies show that students who were not proficient in reading by the end of third grade are four times more likely to dropout of high school than proficient readers.
