Percentage of 7th Grade Students who indicate school connectedness


School connectedness is based on The California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS). The California Department of Education (CDE) requires that districts administer the surveys minimally in grades seven and nine to ensure comparable data across schools. This survey allows us to see how connected and engaged students feel toward their school; students are more likely to succeed when they feel connected to their school. Connectedness refers to a student's sense of bonding or belonging to a school and research shows that connectedness is a powerful factor in a students attendance, performance, motivation and graduation.
