Community Schools

  • Bridge Academy Icon

    Bridge Academy provides high school curriculum aligned with state and district standards and support services geared to students who have been habitually truant, suspended or expelled from their home district. We also provide a supportive transition for justice-involved youth to reenter a comprehensive school environment after detainment.



  • Burke Academy William P. Burke Academy provides academic instruction, support services, and child care for pregnant and parenting students in Hayward. Teachers and staff offer a nurturing learning environment for young parents, both moms and dads, as they complete their high school education.



  • Fruitvale AcadeFruitvale Academy my provides academic instruction, support services, and child care for pregnant and parenting students at our school site in Oakland. Teachers and staff offer a  nurturing learning environment for young parents, both moms and dads, while they complete their high school education.



  • Hayward Community School Hayward Community School provides educational opportunities for expelled middle and high school students, ages 12-17, referred from their local districts whose behavior prevents them from being successful in traditional school settings in Alameda County.



  • Quest Academy Icon Quest Academy Independent Study Program offers students in Alameda County an alternative to classroom instruction with a standards-based course of study.  Independent Study is an instructional strategy that is based on a contractual agreement between the teacher, the student, and the parents/guardians.



  • Thunder Road Icon

    Thunder Road Community School provides an academic program for boys and girls ages 14 to 18 within a residential substance abuse treatment center in Oakland. Our small school uses a collaborative teaching model and supports individual student learning needs in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Special Education.



Court Schools

  • Butler Academic Icon

    Butler Academic Center is a fully accredited compulsory educational program for youth detained in Alameda County's Juvenile Justice Center. Upon completion of their high school diploma or GED, youth have the opportunity to earn transferable college credits via online courses through a partnership with Merritt College.



  • Camp Sweeney Icon Sweeney Academic Center is a compulsory educational program for youth detained in Alameda County's Juvenile Justice Center within a 50-bed minimum-security residential program for adolescent males ages 15 - 19.
