  • The ACOE Science Team has the following materials available for checkout:

    Science Partnership Instructional Cases
(Click on this link to access all of our instructional cases.)

The Instructional Cases (ICs) are a series of lessons that focus on key science concepts that integrate NGSS and CCSS to improve student learning. Click the Materials Box Check-Out Page to explore ICs that have an accompanying set of materials. You will have 3 weeks to check out the available instructional case kits. *Many of the IC kits have consumable materials that may be insufficient for your quantity of students. Please note that we will no longer be able to provide consumable materials. Please plan in advance to gather these materials before implementing the instructional case. The lessons in the ICs provide teachers access to familiar content standards while experimenting with instructional strategies that are more closely aligned to NGSS.

The ICs can be used as lessons that support the completion of the modules, lesson study cycles, or as tools to demonstrate the supports and structures needed for administrators and colleagues when considering the shifts within NGSS. Remember that the lessons within the IC support the students’ progression towards the NGSS performance expectation. No single lesson can build students’ capacity to meet the expectations of an individual PE. For access to any of the Instructional cases, please fill out this form and allow 48 hours for us to grant you access.

Science Partnership Instructional Case Materials Boxes:

A selection of IMSS Instructional Cases have a box of materials, each equipped with an Instructional Case binder and materials for each lesson of the instructional case. You will have 3 weeks to check out the available instructional case kits. *Many of the IC kits have consumable materials that may be insufficient for your quantity of students. Please note that we will no longer be able to provide consumable materials. Please plan in advance to gather these materials before implementing the instructional case. The binder of each Instructional Case has the following: contents of each kit, teacher background, lesson descriptions and master copies of the "Student Activity Sheets". Teachers will be informed of what each kit provides and what the teacher must provide in order to complete the Instructional Case with the most efficiency. Materials will have consumables, non-consumables, and materials provided by the teacher.

Here are the following instructional case boxes ready for check-out. Each box is linked with the materials list for your preparation:

    Swivl Robots

Swivl Robots are robotic tools linked to smart devices such as smart phones, and iPads that gather audio and video data. They can be used to support teacher reflection, coaching, mentoring, measuring student discourse and other instructional methods.  www.swivl.com

Here is an example from one of the teachers in Alameda County to monitor small group discourse: 5th Grade Elephant Toothpaste
