CDC Recommends COVID-19 Vaccines for Young Children
Saturday, June 18, 2022 - Today, CDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky, M.D., M.P.H., endorsed the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendation that all children 6 months through 5 years of age should receive a COVID-19 vaccine. This expands eligibility for vaccination to nearly 20 million additional children and means that all Americans ages 6 months and older are now eligible for vaccination.

The Governor’s announcement Thursday evening that the state will delay the vaccine mandate for students until the 2023-24 school year is an acknowledgement of the logistical issues that the mandate is presenting for districts and schools, as the FDA has not yet fully approved the vaccine for the majority of school-age children -
