    The Policy & Governance Program:

    • Facilitates dynamic ACOE leadership in county, state, and federal policy arenas to address barriers to student success in Alameda County.
    • Supports effective governance to ensure equity and transparency.

    Initiatives and Projects

    ACOE’s Cabinet, with input from the ACOE Policy Committee, established the following Legislative Platform for 2023 which will serve as the foundation for our legislative advocacy for this year. The priorities include:

    • Fiscal health for our districts and ACOE
    • Student wellness, physical and mental;
    • Well-qualified and supported ed workforce
    • Well-rounded academics that prepare students for career and college

    The ACOE Policy Committee is a 15 member advisory group of leaders from each ACOE department that meets monthly to:

    • Promote policy positions aligned with our mission
    • Increase staff engagement in policy
    • Support policy info-sharing across departments
    • Ensure understanding of policies
