• Hayward Community School

Hayward Community School provides educational opportunities for middle and high school students, ages 12-17, referred from their local districts due to behavior that prevents them from being successful in traditional school settings in Alameda County.

Hayward Community helps students move toward grade level competencies while giving them the tools to be successful when they return to their district schools.

Students receive individual help from district counselors, support staff, transition connections, mentors, grief counselors, and psychologists. We also partner with youth agencies including ACOE, law enforcement, school resource officers, probation, and human services.

Hayward Community teachers and staff make every effort to overcome obstacles that prevent our students from receiving a full and meaningful education. We value all students and each student is treated as an individual. Because students learn in different ways, a variety of instructional strategies, programs, and services are employed to ensure maximum opportunities for success including:

    • Character Based Literacy
    • Common Core aligned academic subject instruction
    • Enrichment activities
    • Access to facilities at Eden Youth Center
    • Professional counseling
    • Computer technology
    • Special education services
    • Mentoring/tutoring
    • Mediation/conflict management
    • Services in both English and Spanish
    • Career education/work permits
