Governor Gavin Newsom announced plans to fully reopen California’s economy by June 15 if specific metrics are met. The plan outlines expectations that schools conduct full-time, in-person instruction in the fall, in compliance with Cal/OSHA standards and public health guidelines.
We anticipate California will release updated guidance for schools soon, to which ACOE and ACPHD intend to continue to align for the 2021-22 school year. Current guidance for Alameda County schools will remain available at acoe.org/guidance.
Currently, all TK-12 schools in Alameda County may implement reopening plans for a return to in-person instruction, in accordance with the California Department of Public Health’s Reopening In-Person Instruction Framework and the Alameda County School Reopening Guidance.
Alameda County Office of Education will continue to assist our schools and districts in following state and local guidelines by ensuring educational leaders, educators, and the community have support and the most current information and resources available.
Videos: School Visits in Alameda County
This spring Alameda County Superintendent of Schools L. K. Monroe visited campuses across Alameda County where students were back in classrooms, either in small learning groups or in reopened schools.
We thank the students, staff and leadership who welcomed us!
