The Policy and Governance Program makes recommendations to the Alameda County Board of Education's Policy and Legislation Committee for updates to the Board's policy manual. In making recommendations for Board policy improvements, Program staff compare existing policies to sample policy updates, elicit input from ACOE leaders, highlight new legal mandates, and present recommendations to the Board Policy and Legislation Committee at its public meetings. Once the full Board approves policy updates-a process that includes Committee analysis and recommendations, first and second readings by the full Board, and a Board vote-Program staff make the requisite changes to the Board policy manual.
