Student Census Video Contest!

ACOE is sponsoring a student video contest to promote participation in Census 2020. Click here for all the contest details.

Contest prizes are $1,500 for first place, $1,000 for second, and $500 for third.

Any student in kindergarten through 12th grade who attends school in Alameda County can enter a video to share the importance of being counted with our community.

The deadline for entries is February 16, 2020.

Why is this important?

Alameda County is home to more than 225,000 students and 10,000 teachers. It is also home to many populations historically undercounted in the decennial Census, such as children ages 0-5, Latinos, African-Americans, Asian-Americans & Pacific Islanders, homeless individuals and families, people with disabilities, LGBTQ individuals, households with limited English proficiency, immigrants and refugees.

Undercounting our residents leads to underrepresentation of the count and true diversity of our community.

We are proud that each of these populations calls Alameda County home. Visit acoe.org/census to learn about how ACOE is promoting participation in Census 2020 with a focus on the populations that most need representation and are least likely to be counted.
