Staff Testing Options
Valencia Branch Labs (VBL)
Valencia Branch Labs (VBL) is the state-run testing program spearheaded by the California COVID-19 Testing Task Force. In January, the Schools branch of the Testing Task Force rolled out the program for LEAs as an option for staff testing.
The staff member’s insurance provider can be billed directly for the cost of the test. Staff who do not have insurance will be covered by the state. Please see the School Financing For Cdph Valencia Branch Laboratory for more information.
LEAs are not required to sign an MOU or any other documentation to participate in the VBL program. ACOE has already signed an MOU with the VBL program. This MOU gives all LEAs in Alameda County access to the VBL testing program.
Color is the software partner of Valencia Labs, making you aware because you will receive emails from Color and we want to make sure that you are not confused by that.
The Onboarding process will be facilitated by the Testing Task Force through the Color platform. On 1/26/2021, LEA superintendents should have received an email from Color with specific instructions and next steps in order to onboard in the Valencia Branch Labs program.
- If you did not receive such an email, or cannot locate it in your inbox, please visit Color's support page: https://www.color.com/cdph-color-faqs and submit a request using the support form at the bottom of the webpage.
Support with VBL Partnership
- The Taskforce has set-up a dedicated team that will help get all of your questions answered. By centralizing all inbound questions to TTFSchoolInquiry@cdph.ca.gov, they are able to respond as efficiently as possible.
- All LEA superintendents should receive an invitation to the Testing Task Force “Office Hours”, a weekly update and check in Zoom call. Ruth Jones will forward that invitation once received in case you miss it.
- While the VBL testing program is run by the California COVID-19 Testing Task Force. ACOE remains committed to supporting our districts who participate in the VBL testing program. You can contact Ruth Jones (email@example.com) and Robin Malfatti (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions or concerns.
Staff Testing option
Curative, Inc. is a California based lab. In November, ACOE secured a contract with Curative for staff COVID-19 testing for Alameda County TK-12 districts, as well as our county-authorized charter schools.
Districts and county-authorized charter schools have access to the same contract ACOE secured in November. Interested LEAs will need to sign a rider contract to begin the Onboarding process. If you would like to receive a copy of the contract and the rider, please fill out the Curative Contract Request form.
If your school is not a TK-12 district or county authorized charter school, you can reach out directly to Curative to discuss securing a contract with the company.
The staff member’s insurance provider will be billed directly for the cost of the test. Staff who do not have insurance will be covered by the state. This is a $0 cost option for the LEA and the employee.
Once the contract has been secured, a Curative Implementation Lead will be assigned to your district/school to assist with setting up the testing site (ordering tests, training for the online platform, etc.). ACOE will be available as a liaison between our district/staff and Curative should additional support be needed.
Support with Curative Partnership
ACOE meets regularly with Curative staff to ensure all districts/schools are being adequately supported. ACOE staff is also available to support districts/schools when needed. You can contact Ruth Jones (email@example.com) and Robin Malfatti (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions or concerns.
