Positive Attendance Care Team (PACT)
The Positive Attendance Care Team (PACT) is designed to provide holistic support for students who are chronically absent after the district has exhausted all available interventions. The goal is to collaborate with the student, family, school, and community based partners to create a comprehensive support plan that addresses the root causes of absenteeism while embracing restorative justice principles and the whole child approach.
Students are eligible to be referred to the County PACT:
California Education Code defines a habitual truant as a student reported truant three or more times in a school year, after attempts by school officials to meet with the student and their parent or guardian. If a student is habitually truant, irregular in attendance, or persistently disruptive, they may be referred to a School Attendance Review Board. Additionally, chronic truancy is defined as being absent without a valid excuse for 10% or more of school days, following required school interventions and notifications.
Chronic absenteeism refers to missing 10% or more of enrolled school days for any reason, including excused absences, unexcused absences and tardies
