Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Pedagogy (CLRP)

Culturally & Linguistically
Responsive Pedagogy (CLRP)
Our CLRP department is based on the foundational work of Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings, ensuring that all children have access to experiences where they achieve:
- Academic Success:
Intellectual growth that students experience as a result of classroom instruction and learning experiences - (Multi)cultural Competence:
the ability to help students appreciate and celebrate their cultures of origin while gaining knowledge of and fluency in at least one other culture - Sociopolitical or Critical Consciousness:
the ability to take learning beyond the confines of the classroom using school knowledge and skills to identify, analyze, and solve real-world problems
For more information, see the California Department of Education’s Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching webpage.
